We are presently at capacity for the Somatic Experiencing training in Ottawa, and scholarship applications are now closed for the 2020-2021 round of training. However, you can read our processes regarding scholarship applications and our commitment to equity in the training below. We are currently not accepting applications for the next SE training. Scholarship applications will open six months prior to the next training event.
SE Ottawa is committed to making the registration process equitable for participants. We are also committed to using training as a form of community capacity building.
As such, we are pleased to offer scholarships to 20% of all participants in our training. These scholarships are reduced by 25% or 50% of the total regular fee. This means that the cost would either be $656.25 or $437.50 instead of the regular $875.00 (taxes to be applied at 13%). Please note that this scholarship program is specifically for folks who are beginning the Somatic Experiencing training now at Level I, and not for Advanced students.
In order to apply for a scholarship, please submit your responses to the following questions to :
What level of fee reduction would be required for your participation in this training? 25% or 50%?
What will you do with your Somatic Experiencing training in the community that will support those who use your services?
How will you use this training with and within marginalized communities in ways that are both meaningful and appropriate?
These scholarships are designed to support marginalized students who cannot afford to pay the complete tuition fees so that they can apply learnings from Somatic Experiencing in their own unique and essential ways in their practice.
Please submit the information via email with the subject line "Scholarship for SE Ottawa Training". If you cannot submit this information electronically or would prefer an in-person meeting with Lauren Scarsella, the SE Ottawa coordinator, please send us an email with the same subject line and to the same email account ().
Final decisions on scholarship recipients will be made after being reviewed by an internal committee to assess need. There is a possibility of additional scholarships beyond what we currently have available, so be sure to submit yours in time for us to review it.
