Brent Beresford
They/them
Brent Beresford’s (they/them) greatest teachers are their children, encouraging a constant softening. Brent’s work is anchored in the power of relationality and soft curiosity, accompanying individuals and groups since 2002, first as an occupational therapist, psychotherapist, and now as a psychologist. The body has always been incorporated into their way of understanding wellness journeys, and their longstanding yoga practice attests to this. They have also endeavoured to transmit teachings of the Dhamma in various forms since 2013, through mindfulness-based approaches and the practice of Insight Dialogue. Since their first retreat in 2002, the Dhamma has carried them through life. They are a current student of Spirit Rock’s 7th community dharma leader program. Brent is inspired to explore the beauty and complexity of life with folks, opening to the mystery and dropping fixed agendas for change. Working to break down the rigidity often found in colonized and patriarchal values, as well as integrating the ways we understand trauma to impact the nervous system, both individual and collective. A person of mixed racial heritage, they also identify as nonbinary, and are quite passionate about serving folks who find themselves in the margins. They will be approved to provide beginner level personal sessions AFTER the first module of the beginning year, and because of full time work in the public sector, can only walk with folks for short journeys together.
