Marianela Leon de Mujica, M.Ed, RP,
SEP-candidate.

Marianela initiated her career in the mental health field in her home country Venezuela. She combined her clinical counselling skills with other professional activities: a professor and social researcher of family, community, and education. She offers a warm and gentle presence inviting a sense of safety in which self-directed growth and wellbeing is possible.

In Canada since 2013, she has a wealth of experience supporting Immigrants, Newcomers and Refugees in both Spanish and English. She practices from an integrative person-centered, anti-oppressive framework with cross-cultural perspective and a deep commitment to Social Justice. As an Somatic Experiencing Practitioner she truly believes that the therapeutic process is collaborative while focusing on the client’s strengths, inner resources and wisdom. Marianela’s foundational modalities are Gestalt Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Art-Play Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Additionally, she completed The Social Service Program in Algonquin College .
Marianela is an SE Practitioner, holds a Master’s degree in Education and Counselling, is a Registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
Marianela works primarily with adults and youth experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relational challenges, and traumatic stress. Marianela specializes in domestic violence prevention, parenting skills and pre/post immigration & cultural issues.
