Sylvia Ruiz
She/her/ella
I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and certified mindfulness teacher with a private practice spanning Madison (USA), Montréal (Canada), and Mexico City. I am also the founder and director of Primordial Multicultural Healing Community, a nonprofit based in Madison that offers contemplative and somatic healing practices to non-dominant groups, with a focus on the Latine community. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, deepening my commitment to adult education and transformative healing.
In my personal life and professional practice, I understand healing as a process that begins with care, supporting the nervous system’s capacity to reconnect with its inherent wisdom and resilience, and trusting the body’s innate movement toward regulation, coherence, and connection. I unite Somatic Experiencing into an interdisciplinary practice rooted in decades of experience in mindfulness, theatre, body ritual movement, and performance art.
Working with marginalized communities has shaped my understanding of resilience and affirmed authenticity as a core value. I identify as queer, mestiza, and first-generation immigrant, with deep gratitude to my teachers and ancestors whose guidance sustains this path of care and connection.
